‘My Darling Evelynn’
Progressed from
Freman College — GCSE
Statement
This animation depicts my theme ‘Anti-War’ of an engaged couple who work on different RAF bases in 1944, nearing the end of World War Two. It shows their love through a letter that James, a Wireless Operator, had written to Evelynn, a member of the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force. However, he doesn’t make it back from and operation to Berlin. This is an example of ‘Anti-War’ because it shows how the love between the two couldn’t blossom as the war stopped it from happening. Evelynn would live on with the pain and the knowledge that the war took James from her and James was killed far too soon.

Progressed from
Hertford Regional College — UAL Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design (Fine Art)
Statement
This piece is mainly inspired from my love of drawing and creating dragons and other creatures, it depicts a dragon being persecuted and outcast from its home and later being attacked and discriminated by hunters. The scene that I have chosen to illustrate shows the dragon being shot and hit with a tranquilizer arrow. He is quickly falling from the sky to the ground.

‘Away With the Fairies’
Progressed from
Haileybury Turnford secondary school — GCSE
Statement
Through this project I have created a fantasy game concept inspired by make-believe worlds and children’s imagination. I have explored lots of different styles through this, inspired by artists such as ‘Hoang Lap and Krenz Cushart. I have focused a lot on the concept art as it shows a lot about the world and illustrates the story. The experimentation of different materials helped to inspire my final piece and allow me to get in touch with my inner child to develop my work.

‘Exploration and Wanderlust’
Progressed from
The Saint John Henry Newman School — GCSE
Statement
This piece depicts my chosen themes, ‘Exploration and Wanderlust’, in the form of a short comic. I was inspired by Hayao Miyazaki’s manga and animated film, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, so I used it to help with the design of some areas of my comic. As well as using inspiration from artists, I was inspired by different plants and used some of them to help design my own plants for the comic. I went to Cambridge Botanical Garden to take photos of different plants which helped a lot with this and allowed me to do some primary research that would aid the production of my final piece.

‘A Hedgefox’s Bad Day’
Progressed from
Hertford Regional College — UAL Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design (Fine Art)
Statement
For this project I created an animatic featuring my own character that I usually draw outside of college. The idea was to create an episode where my character goes through a bad day. The aim of it was to show off my intended idea if I had more time to develop it more and to test my animating skills based on everything I had learned during my time on this course. I did this out of passion, inspired by many talented artists and animators (including other media like video games and cartoons). I wanted to develop my drawing skills as an artist.
