I created a game trailer using characters I developed and based the story around them. These characters are in the 1800s, parts in Victorian London and parts in the western plains of America. The trailer starts with the main character and how she meets her love interest. It then goes onto a quick succession, showing the different characters and giving a vague idea of them and the story. The idea is to create a curiosity in the audience to want to know what happens and who theses characters are and hopefully to play the game. It is basically a story based off characters I designed and then developed into a world in the 1800’s.

Statement

This concept piece was done in oil paints on canvas, the process was challenging as the paint would take days to dry so if I ever needed to wait for something to continue it would take quite a while, but the challenge of it was fun and it helped to learn some new skills as well. It was inspired by multiple fictional stories, such as, Beauty and the Beast, Howl’s Moving Castle and many more forbidden love stories. However, with my idea I wanted to go a bit more darker than these fairy tale stories, so my idea came to be about a man with with a vicious monster inside of him that he could not control very well, making him almost unstable and unpredictable. But beside him he has this calm and lovely “wife” who he cannot marry so they pretend that they are. She is a ray of light for him but that won’ t keep the monster away.

Statement

I have always had a passion for films. In this project, I was able to explore this passion and create the first scene/trailer for my short film idea called Prey For Prey. To make this scene, I spent countless hours researching all areas of film making and developing my skills in all three stages of production. I am incredibly proud of what I achieved with very minimal understanding of film making before I started the project. I hope to continue this passion outside of college and continue to develop these skills.

I created a short animation film where two of my protagonists getting know each other and start their journey together. For the environment and characters’ design, I combined the futuristic world with the 50-80s era elements to make it more interesting. My animation starts with two of my characters meeting for the first time and developing a friendship.

This is some personal work I did, experimenting with different materials such as charcoal and pencil and converting that into a digital space using Adobe illustrator. I mainly drew women, focusing on the human form and body types that are less focused on in media.  Although I mainly focused on women, I also wanted to include an angel since that was a substantial portion of why I wanted to experiment more with charcoal and is my favourite piece from the collection I submitted.

‘Serpents Curse’

Statement

This animation was the final piece for my last project of the second year. I wanted to create an animation based on a story I created. The main character, Blake, was cursed by an ancient book, and her brother, Andrian, turned his back on Blake because of this. Blake travelled the land in hope of finding a way to fix her life, when she came across a sorceress named Sybil who offered her help to Blake. The animation is inspired by anime intros. It shows parts of Blake and Sybil’s journey without spoiling any major plot. They adventure together around a medieval fantasy world looking for a cure for Blake’s curse.

Statement

This animated scene is based on my story from my FMP. The story is about two young boys who, despite their differences, have an amazing friendship and go on adventures together, along with their guardian to watch over them. One is from the forest while the other is from the town, the film ‘The Fox and The Hound’ inspired this idea! I aimed for this animation to feel like a short scene, as if it were in a film or show. I wanted this town and setting to feel very warm, welcoming, and joyful. I have included certain music to emphasize this.

My story is set in the 1800s, which is why I chose to present my final pieces as old, faded paintings. I did this through consideration of colour palettes and textures to try and achieve this effect despite painting digitally. In this piece, I wanted to present the conclusion of my story, the figure in the window being the pirate who killed the mermaid that the statue is of, showing remorse for her actions. I wanted to tell a story about revenge and how acting impulsively can cause deep, irreversible regrets later on.

Statement

A collection of concept art for a game idea centered around the theme of ‘chaos’, and an animation of an enemy NPC’s movements. The concept art are designs of non-playable characters that would be featured in the game as characters the player could interact with, including an antagonist deity character of chaos, a bouncy and fun-loving shop character, and a helper tutorial character who gives tips to the player. The animation shows what an enemy attacking the player would look like in motion.

Statement

For my 3D animation, this was the final piece for a group project, made along with Ella Larkin. Together, we
created an animation showing a game idea we created using our own ideas for a new world. My own was based on a world that has been covered in snow, and allowed new species replacing the human race. Our combined idea is about wars over the elements and rivalry worlds becoming civil.
