‘The Sanctuary’
Progressed from
Hertford Regional College — HND Games Design and Animation
Statement
The Sanctuary was inspired by the urban legend of “The Bermuda Triangle” as well as my personal passion for dragons. I designed my own story about what is beyond the triangle by starting with dinosaurs and giving them a fantasy twist. ‘The Sanctuary’ is a location where dinosaurs were left to evolve, with characteristics comparable to dragons but not so obscure as to be unrealistic. By establishing this link between fantasy and reality, it could spark many people’s curiosity and wonder, demonstrating that nothing is impossible.

‘Against Darkness’
Progressed from
Hertford Regional College — HND Games Design and Animation
Statement
The aim for this project was to challenge myself with a genre that I have never created before, that being horror, with the plan to inject intrigue and terror into the player. The story centres around a scientist trapped inside a nightmare that they must escape from. With the recent remake releases of Resident Evil 4 and Dead Space, I wanted to try my hand at creating a good horror experience.

‘Detective White’
Progressed from
Hertford Regional College — HND Games Design and Animation
Statement
This game is about a detective named White, who must solve a murder in his city. For this game, the majority of time was spent on the level design and ensuring that it fitted the chosen theme of cyberpunk. The time spent on these factors have been worth it, this project has provided the opportunity to hone the skills in narrative and level design which are the areas within the gaming industry where I would like to specialise. There is also a selection of additional work in the showcase video.

‘A New Start’
Progressed from
Hertford Regional College — HND Games Design and Animation
Statement
A New Start is a mini game before a main game. Instead of having to wait for a game to load up and having to find something else to entertain you for those minutes, you can play a mini game whilst waiting for the main game to load. Getting points/rewards within the mini game will count towards the main game. Helping players have a good start towards their adventure.

‘Hell is Here’
Progressed from
Hertford Regional College — HND Games Design and Animation
Statement
This game is a more retro Resident Evil style game, which is aimed to keep in tune with the more horror aspect of these classical games with my own spin added onto it. It is set inside a school where the main goal is to collect the book as well as its missing pages to open the escape door to leave. I created all characters seen inside the game.

‘Lost City’
Progressed from
Hertford Regional College — HND Games Design and Animation
Statement
Civilization has fallen apart a long time ago from an asteroid hitting the entire planet; nature has overgrown all, and all hope is gone. A broken lost city is all that remains of this catastrophic event. Lost City is a level design piece of a large city created within Unity.

‘Wipeout/Ridge Racer Inspired Car’
Progressed from
Hertford Regional College — HND Games Design and Animation
Statement
A car model produced using Autodesk Maya. The overall inspiration for the model was inspired by 90s racing games such as Wipeout and Ridge Racer. This influence/inspiration is reflected within the boxy shape which is used throughout the design of the vehicle. Maintaining the retro aesthetics, I also applied suitable details and textures to aid the sense of speed and adrenaline which is present throughout the concept. The emotion of futurism is indicated whilst depicting a modern feel. There is also a selection of additional work in the showcase video.

Megastar (the famous, self-absorbed, heartthrob actor from Hosly Centre) entered into the arena to study for an upcoming role; here you see two models of one of his abilities, the Flash Grenade, inside his leather weapons briefcase.

‘Unlocking Mystery’
Progressed from
Hertford Regional College — HND Games Design and Animation
Statement
This is a Minimum Viable Product, showcasing a chunk of my game. It is an escape room-style game where you are employed as a private investigator. You receive a letter from a friend begging for help and decide to visit the small town. The whole city is abandoned, you need to figure out where all of the locals have vanished to. Explore the city, look for hints, solve puzzles, and unlock levels for further investigation. You are at the entrance of the town which has been closed, you need to figure out how you can open the barrier. On your way collect items that you can use in the next level. There is also a selection of additional work in the showcase video.

‘The Redcap’
Progressed from
Hertford Regional College — HND Games Design and Animation
Statement
The Redcaps are described as malevolent goblins in Anglo-Scottish folklore. They are said to inhabit and protect the ruins on the Scottish border, preferably those destroyed in battle, where they wait for their unknowing victims to come to rest. It is said that they must regularly kill to keep the blood on their cap fresh because if it dries they will die, so anyone who faces a Redcap is sure to find a gruesome end. This project is based on this character and intends to find a new way of representing horror themes, with influence from real cultures and stories. There is also a selection of additional work in the showcase video.
