‘Burt’s Bees’

Progressed from

St Marks West Essex Catholic School — GCSE

Statement

For my Final Major Project, I created a display based on the word “FRESH”. I started by creating a mind map listing all words and concepts that I link to the word fresh and followed up on my favourite ideas. I decided to create a nature themed display promoting skincare as my merchandise. Once I had decided this, I began conducting research into window displays, artists and brands that create sustainable, cruelty-free products and decided on Burt’s Bees.  Overall, I feel that my final display was almost exactly how I intended with only small tweaks made.

‘Oranges and Lemons’

Progressed from

King Harold School — GCSE

Statement

My final major project was based around the word “FRESH”. I created a mind map to collect ideas of how I could portray this and decided I was going to go down the route of fresh fruit. I was inspired by the large market of fruit scented products and how well the colours of citrus fruits work together. I also furthered my research by looking at artists, creating mood boards and doing independent research.  Overall, I was very happy with how my window turned out and think I fit the brief very well. I was able to make it successful by all the steps I took to get there and make any changes necessary to make it perfect.

‘A café Shop Window’

Progressed from

Hertford Regional College — UAL Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design

Statement

I was inspired by the theme ‘fresh’; my instant thoughts were fresh fruit, ice cream and baked goods. I decided to take forward the idea of ‘fresh baked goods’ specifically luxury cakes. I wanted to create a window that would be desirable to influencers and young people. I liked the idea of flowers being in the display and I wanted to create my own paintings inspired by Wayne Thiebaud, reflecting my chosen colour palette. I chose to create a window display as visual merchandising is my chosen career path. I wanted my window to look expensive and appeal to influencers.

‘A Little Women Scene’

Progressed from

Chauncy School  — GCSE

Statement

From the start of this project, I decided I wanted to create a set design rather than a window display with the space I was given. This is because this is the area I want to further explore after college. I researched into a series of books like The wizard of Oz and Little Women. I investigated how they were adapted over time from books or tv shows or movies. This led me to settling on Little Women for my project.
