Statement

These pieces make use of the intimate medium of paper in the form of cards and envelopes, evoking the longing for more personal connection with others felt by many during the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown. In addition to being reminiscent of the resurgence of mail-art as a form of self-expression during this period, hand-painted watercolour illustrations and stamps inspired by the whimsical and nostalgic nature of the circus convey its chaos in a light-hearted and accessible form.
