‘Distant Memories’’
Progressed from
Presdales School — A-Levels
Statement
The piece explores four people’s experiences with childhood memories related to their senses and reflects how the subjects view these memories based on their different situations, with each box painted with sculptures to portray their experience. Distance is explored, in terms of time as age affects the way memories are viewed, as well as physical distance as all the subjects live in different countries to where the memories are from, in the piece there is a physical barrier between the viewer and each of the memories which have been captured in a box and can be looked at and reflected on but never experienced in the same way through the senses again creating a nostalgic time capsule.
