‘Fake News’ (Propaganda in the 21st Century)

This body of work deconstructs the defining traits of propaganda throughout history in order to reflect upon the idea of ‘Fake News’ and its place as a key component of the nature of propaganda in the 21st Century. With a focus on contrast, the work imposes an eclectic array of visuals. 1950s advertising, minimalist design, stencil, print and projection are all overlaid upon one another. Each component interjects, contrasts and competes. This reflects the hostile tensions that have been brewing the past 20 years as a consequence of an information overload that has only been exasperated through propaganda.
