‘The Family Of Fears’

Statement

This piece brings together the characters I have created during my project into a family portrait. My aim was to create characters that changed the audience’s perception of the fear the character is depicting. I changed elements of the fears identified through surveys and interviews to create non threatening characters, taking inspiration from illustrations of fears in children’s books. From left to right the characters depict: Trypanophobia (fear of needles), Arachnophobia (fear of spiders), Thanatophobia (fear of death) and Pyrophobia (fear of fire).
